Every great company starts with a big idea, and ours began right here in Kearney, Nebraska, back in 1980.
That year, two friends, Darrel Albers and Tom Myers, saw the power that personal computers were about to unlock. But for most folks, tech felt confusing, expensive, and out of reach. They didn’t just want to sell hardware; they wanted to make this revolution friendly, simple, and local. They wanted to be the place where anyone could walk in, ask a question, and get a straight, patient answer. And just like that, Computer Hardware was born.
Now, over 40 years later, we’re proud to say we’ve build something special. The tech world has changed a thousand times over, and we’ve adapted every step of the way. We’re still here, still focused on innovation, and still guided by that original, simple idea. Today, we’re honored to be Nebraska’s premier and longest-standing chain of computer stores.
