An Apple I computer is up for auction and is expected to bring up to $500,000. That’s a lot of money to buy a computer that was made in 1976. Actually, half a million dollars could buy you 177 new 15-inch Macbook Retina computers!
Jobs and Wozniak built only 200 Apple I computers and each one of these computers were sold at $666.66 originally. Time goes on and prices change, and a German auction house sold an Apple I computer for almost $700,000. Another one sold for about $400,000 last year at Sotheby’s auction.
With that being said, it’s crazy how much some one will spend for a computer that’s 37-years-old. The Apple I was also bare minimum, it didn’t have a Unibody case or fancy display. The entire computer was simply a circuit board with out casing, a keyboard, or a monitor.
