Apple Remote Features

June 17, 2013Productsadmin

The Apple TV is an amazing product that allows you to stream Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, and more to your TV. You can also AirPlay content from your iOS devices and mirror your iPad and Apple computer screens to your TV. If you are reading this you probably already know how awesome the Apple TV is, but do you know everything you can do with the Apple Remote? Here is a look at some of the things you may not have known you can do with your remote.

Ever miss the ability to skip around chapters like you can on DVD players? You actually have the ability to do that using the Apple Remote! To do this: press the down button and then press the right or left button to move forward or back one chapter at a time.

If you are watching programs that do not have chapter markers, most noticeably Netflix, doing the above steps will skip you 30 seconds at a time or 1/20th of the length of the media.

Apple has also created a special menu that you are able to access while your show is playing. This special menu allows you to jump ahead to a chapter by name (if available), turn on closed captioning, and change speakers. To access the special menu, press and hold the center (Select) button. By doing so your show will be paused and you will be able to see the new menu.

Lastly, if you decide that you would rather use a third-party remote to control the Apple TV, you are able to! Go to Settings – General – Remotes on your apple TV and pick Learn Remote. Follow the instructions to set the buttons on your remote you want to use to control the device.

Visit any of our stores and pick up the $100 Apple TV, including the Apple Remote, today!
