The last thing you want to lose are wedding photos, baby pictures, or your doctoral thesis, right? For as long as we can remember, Computer Hardware has had customers come in every week with a “dead” computer. Even though Apple computers are more reliable than ever, it is not uncommon for issues like this to arise. In any case, we always preach having a back up. In a rare occasion that a hard drive might fail, the computer usually will not give you any warning! One minute it works, the next it’s gone. The stress of losing everything on your hard drive can be easily prevented. We have all been there, we forget to do them! But, by taking the time to do a backup, it will ensure that those precious photos and important documents will never be lost.
Apple makes it super easy to do a backup of your data. Using a program called Time Machine within your OSX, you can do a backup everyday or as little as you feel comfortable. By simply plugging in an external hard drive to your computer, let Time Machine do the rest of the work. Depending on the types of files you create, we recommend backing up daily, weekly, or the very least, monthly. Accidents happen. You are constantly changing and adding content to your hard drive. It never hurts to have a copy of it, in the case of a “dead” computer.
