Goodbye Windows XP

March 28, 2014Newsadmin

April 8, 2014 is the last day that Microsoft will be supporting Windows XP.

Whether you are a business or an individual still running Windows XP now is the time to upgrade.

What does End of Support mean for you?  Microsoft has been providing you with security, performance and stability updates for Windows XP, which have helped to keep your business running. Without these updates, XP will have layers of security chipped away. There are thousands of malware and viruses dedicated to taking down Windows XP and stealing your information. And because XP is so old, hackers have had years to perfect their programs. After April 8th, Microsoft will not be able to help you if you decided to stay on XP.

What should I do if I’m running Windows XP?  Your best option would be to update to a new computer.  Windows 7 and Windows 8 offer more productivity, control, flexibility and most import – more security.  Computer Hardware will gladly recycle your old Windows XP tower or laptop for FREE with the purchase of a new computer. (does not include monitor)

Can’t I just upgrade my operating system? While this is a very valid question, the operations of it aren’t as easily done as they are said.  There is no simple upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 or 8.  You would have to purchase the full operating system and perform a clean install.  If you needed data saved it would have to be moved to an external drive, Windows 7 or 8 would be installed, then your data would have to be put back onto your machine.  The bigger issue you run into with older equipment is the processor or RAM won’t support the new operating system.  Or the computer manufacturer doesn’t offer drivers for the new operating system.  In these circumstances it would be by far more cost effective and time effective to purchase a new machine.

If your computer was running Windows 7 and you downgraded to Windows XP,  it is not a problem for us to reinstall Windows 7 on your machine provided you have the Windows 7 install discs.
