Not quite ready for the Digital Transition?
As of February 17, 2009 many TV stations quit broadcasting in Analog and now broadcast purely in Digital. The remaining stations will transition to digital by June 12, 2009.
What does this all mean?
It’s a great question. Because the way the signal is being broadcast, some older Televisions could stop receiving signal. Most new Televisions have digital tuners built in and there is no need to worry about anything. Digital cable or satellite subscribers are also already prepared for the transition. Digital converter boxes are available, or upgrading to new new television is also an option.
Should I upgrade?
Upgrading to a new Television is not necessarily required. However, upgrading to a new HDTV would ultimately give the viewer a whole new experience. Many local stations are broadcasting in high definition, and cable and satellite companies offer high definition packages. Upgrading to a High Definition Television delivers a higher quality picture and higher quality sound. Another benefit is that Flat Panel Televisions are lighter and take up less room. They can also be used as a computer monitor. Plus there is no need for a digital converter box.
